The client wanted to transform a large, underutilized backyard into a resort-style outdoor living environment that better reflected the scale of the property and the way the space would be used. The challenge was creating a design that brought structure, purpose, and balance to the site while defining dedicated spaces for entertaining, recreation, and relaxation. Every part of the backyard needed to feel intentional, with each space serving a clear purpose while contributing to the overall design.
The design was centered around a resort-style swimming pool measuring more than 100 feet in length and 50 feet in width. The scale of the pool was intentionally developed to match the size of the property, creating the sense of arrival and openness typically found in luxury resorts while establishing the focal point of the entire backyard. A pool house with a full outdoor kitchen, bar, dining area, and lounge was positioned alongside the pool to create a central gathering space for entertaining and everyday use.
A recessed swim-up bar, spa, sun shelf, and surrounding landscape were incorporated to create the variety of amenities typically found in a luxury resort, allowing the backyard to support everything from entertaining large groups to everyday relaxation.
The result is a private resort-style retreat that gives the clients the experience of living at a luxury resort from the comfort of their own home.
