Challenge
Situated on the Intracoastal Waterway in Fort Lauderdale, this expansive waterfront estate involved the engineering of the entire outdoor environment for a luxury custom residence. The project included an extensive site plan with pools, water features, landscape, hardscape, and recreational amenities distributed across the property.
The challenge was the sheer amount of engineering required for a residential project of this magnitude. The scale of the development demanded an exceptional level of coordination across multiple engineering disciplines, requiring continuous collaboration with the architectural, landscape, and civil design teams as the residence, seawall, outdoor structures, and site infrastructure were all developed simultaneously.
Solution
The engineering was developed through continuous coordination with the broader design team from concept through permitting. Multiple on-site coordination meetings were held throughout the project to review progress, identify potential conflicts, and resolve coordination items before construction.
Meetings were also held with the local jurisdiction during the permitting process to review the design, address code comments, and work through technical requirements. This collaborative approach resulted in a coordinated engineering package for one of the largest and most complex residential developments of its kind.
