Challenge
The client wanted to combine a vanishing edge pool with a full perimeter overflow spa and a full perimeter overflow cold plunge, while keeping all three vessels visually concealed during normal operation. The spa and cold plunge needed to disappear into the pool when not in use, yet operate independently or simultaneously at different temperatures. Achieving this required a highly coordinated hydraulic design capable of maintaining three separate bodies of water, each with independent temperature control, while preserving the appearance of a single uninterrupted body of water.
Solution
The spa and cold plunge were designed to sit only slightly above the pool's operating water level, allowing them to visually disappear into the surrounding water during normal operation. A specialized hydraulic system was engineered to isolate each vessel independently or operate multiple vessels simultaneously while maintaining separate water temperatures for the pool, spa, and cold plunge. A custom automation system was also developed to control the valves, pumps, heating, and cooling equipment required to transition between operating modes and manage each vessel independently. The result is a highly flexible aquatic environment that delivers three distinct experiences while maintaining the appearance of a single uninterrupted body of water.
